The largest community art project ever to take place in Scotland is set to return to Dundee.

The Great Tapestry of Scotland was created by over 1000 volunteer embroiderers and at 143 metres, is the longest tapestry in the world.

It depicts Scottish history from the Ice Age to modern times, including the massacre at Glencoe and the Miners Strike.

Eight thousand visitors viewed the first 80 panels of the huge masterpiece when it was showcased in the city last year.

Verdant Works will display the 82 previously unseen, beautifully detailed panels later this month.

As part of the museum's contract with The Great Tapestry of Scotland, the unique work of art can never be left unattended during opening hours of the exhibition.

Around 50 volunteers have signed up to act as invigilators while the giant art-work is on display.
