A new evening and night-time economy manager has been appointed in Aberdeen.

Business improvement group Aberdeen Inspired has announced Nicola Johnston will responsible for promoting the city's nightlife.

The role will be the first of its kind in Scotland and second in the UK after London.

Aberdeen Inspired represents more than 700 businesses within the city centre.

Nicola Johnston said: "I think Aberdeen has had quite a few challenges recently with regards to oil and people moving out of the city to take jobs elsewhere.

"We are really looking to reinvigorate the nightlife to diversify the offering and create brand for the city centre to encourage more people to come here."
