Dundee residents are being warned to be vigilant following a spate of bogus caller crimes.

Officers say there has been a spike in the number of rogue traders knocking on people's doors across the city.

Scammers turned up at addresses posing as workmen without official identification.

According to recent research, over 400,000 older people in Scotland believe they have been targeted by scammers.

Constable David North said: "There's been previous incidents where we've had large amounts of money taken from people. Obviously very vulnerable people, usually older people are targeted in theses crimes.

"It is something we feel very strongly about and something that we do want to target and make sure that we can try to stop.

"We need to be made aware of these events so we can come down to identify who these people are and try to prosecute them."
