Banff Harbour could be closed for another month after part of a wall collapsed.

Work is now underway to repair the section of the harbour pier.

It's the second time in the past couple of months that a part of the wall has broken away with the first incident occurring in June.

The harbour is mainly used for pleasure boats and local businesses are worried about the impact on tourism during the remaining summer months.

No boats were damaged in the incident.

Aberdeenshire Council depute leader Peter Argyle said: "It collapsed in June, that is unfortunate, there is nothing that can be done about that.

"The priority of the council is to ensure that the repairs are done quickly.

"I think business owners in Banff recognise, and I hope they do, that Aberdeenshire council are totally and utterly committed to Banff."
