Dundee football fans collect cash for city foodbank
Supporters gathered supplies and over £1000 ahead of League Cup group clash.
Football fans in Dundee helped to raise more than £1000 for a city foodbank this weekend.
Supporters came together to gather 899kg of food ahead of Sunday's Dens Park clash between Dundee and Dundee United, with £1383.24 donated.
Members of the BT Sport crew, who showed the game live, also made a contribution to the collection.
The total was announced on the foodbank's Facebook page with organisers thanking everyone involved.
A statement read: "Don't know what else to say but thank you so much to everyone that donated. Remarkable generosity.
"Thank you to both Dundee FC and Dundee United Football Club for their support in organising and promoting this. Thank you to BT Sport who also made a donation.
"And last but certainly not least thank you to all the volunteers for your continued amazing efforts. We had volunteers ranging from 5 to 77 years young.
"Dundee Foodbank would be nowhere without these volunteers... so thank you."
