Dundee Airport figures plunge after Amsterdam route axed
Flybe's cancellation of Amsterdam flights behind 30% drop, say airport bosses.
The number of people using Dundee Airport has plummeted since flights to Amsterdam were cancelled, new figures have revealed.
There was a 30% drop in passenger numbers between April and June, compared to the same three-month period last year.
Launched amid great fanfare last May, flights between Dundee and the Netherlands led to an initial rise before Flybe suspended the route after six months.
The airline blamed poor radar coverage at the time and the only remaining destination is London Stansted.
In addition to Amsterdam, the route also helped open up the city to flights to the Middle East and beyond.
Airport operators Highland and Islands Ltd confirmed around 2700 fewer people travelled through the doors.
