Tennis club gains cash for floodlights and court revamp
Aboyne Tennis Club is one of nine to benefit from Tennis Scotland's community fund.
An Aberdeenshire tennis club has received a cash boost to install new floodlights and revamp courts.
Aboyne Tennis Club is one of nine groups to benefit from Tennis Scotland's community fund, sharing part of a £380,000 pot.
Firms have been hired to complete both projects with low-energy LED floodlights to be installed around all four courts.
The courts will close at the end of July to enable preparatory work to begin, with members advised to use Torphins and Ballater clubs.
Officials believe the project should be completed in October.
Tennis Scotland's head of development Doc McKelvey said: "This funding allows us to support clubs and local communities to improve the tennis facilities at grassroots level across the country.
"With awards made to venues across Scotland, from Beechgrove Tennis Club in the south to Thurso in the north, we believe the new and upgraded facilities will increase participation, retention and development of players and help tennis clubs to establish themselves as hubs within their communities."
