Employers and unions say they've taken part in ''constructive talks'' in a bid to resolve a long running pay and conditions dispute in the North sea.

Three unions had balloted for strike action, but only the GMB was given a mandate to do so.

Less than 50% of RMT members who were eligible to vote supported such a move.

Now Unite, the GMB and RMT have resumed negotiations with the Offshore Contractors Association (OCA).

Further talks are planned for next week.

Earlier in the week, the OCA had called for all bodies to get around the table to try and find a solution to the dispute.
