Man shouted 'Allahu Akbar' after stealing juice from B&M
Jonathan Wishart threatened to bomb a police station during arrest at the Wellgate Centre.
A thief shouted "Allahu Akbar" and threatened to bomb a police station after stealing bottles of juice from a B&M store.
Jonathan Wishart, 30, of Dundee, was jailed for nine months after security staff caught him red-handed stealing the bottles and other items at the store in the Wellgate Centre in the city.
Wishart, who previously served a 34-month sentence for starting a fire at a petrol station, first told guards "you should get better security because that was easy as f***" before going on the threatening rant.
He nodded vigorously as fiscal depute Sue Ruta told Dundee Sheriff Court: "He then shouted 'Allahu Akbar' in a threatening tone.
"He then stated 'I'm going to put a bomb outside Bell Street [Dundee's police HQ], fill your car with petrol and blow it up'."
"He was reminded he was under caution and replied 'I better shut up now'."
Wishart pleaded guilty on summary complaint to charges of theft by shoplifting and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at B&M, Wellgate Centre, Dundee, on Sunday.
Defence solicitor Larry Flynn said: "Once it starts with him he makes it worse. He is on various medications for anxiety and the like.
"He doesn't remember much about the shoplifting. It's not good and he knows that."
Sheriff George Way offered to defer sentence for background reports that could lead to a non-custodial sentence but Wishart refused because it meant he would spend a month in a remand hall at Perth Prison awaiting the outcome of the case.
Mr Way instead sentenced him to a total of nine months imprisonment.
