A group of 50 engineering and business students from Aberdeen University have created a new race car as part of an annual project.

Ten months of work has gone into producing the TAU-17, a single-seat vehicle which will take part in nationwide student competition.

Students launched the car at an event at the Sir Duncan Rice library on June 29.

The car was manufactured by using 3D printing with components and an explanation of the process available to the public.

Run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Formula Student promotes careers and excellence in engineering, by challenging university students to design, build, develop and market a vehicle.

The project is solely funded by sponsorship raised by the team, which is crucial to remain present and competitive within the contest.
