Small businesses backed to help city's economic growth
Councillor Lynne Short believes chiefs can play part in aiding development.
Dundee's small businesses have been backed to play their part in the city's ongoing economic regeneration by a leading councillor.
The convener of the local authority's city development committee, Lynne Short met with several business owners to discuss the area's revival.
She said: "Nearly half the people employed in the private sector in Dundee work for a small or medium sized business. That's around 24,300 folk whose livelihood and contribution to the city's economy relies on the success of this size of company.
"We understand the value and importance of entrepreneurship and the vital role that small businesses play in the city's on-going economic regeneration and I will continue to do all I can to support that."
The construction industry in the city is one area of interest with 95% of firms classes as small enterprises, which is categorised as having fewer than 49 employees.
Other key sectors include wholesale and retail trade as well as the repair of cars and other motor vehicles.
