Social Says: Former oil worker unveils latest sculpture
Steve's inspiration comes from a love of cars and moving objects.
A former north east oil sector manager has unveiled a life-size Shetland pony sculpture at a Dundee University exhibition.
Steve Burke McKay from Aberdeen had worked in the oil and gas sector for several years before deciding he was in need of a change.
In 2016, he moved across the UK before settling back in Aberdeen to pursue a new chapter in creating metal sculptures.
Steve's inspiration comes from a love of cars and moving objects, and stems from his 11-year-old self saving his pocket money to buy an old 1980s Mini Cooper.
His latest work, a life-size Shetland pony named Magnus, was revealed at the Dundee University Botanic Garden on Wednesday evening at a new exhibition.
Magnus, made entirely from recycled metal and farm machinery parts, and social media users were very excited.
Facebook user Fiona Ross said: "I saw him and the pony getting photographed yesterday, really worth going to see."
Another user commended his latest work: "Love this kind of art / sculpture work. When it's done as well as this, excellent!"
Taking a much simpler approach, Elizabeth Grant commented: "This is awesome."
