Dundee University research will be recognised at a conference in Canada on Sunday.

Staff from the university's Mother and Infant Research Unit (MIRU) will make 17 presentations at the International Colleges of Midwives Triennial Congress in Toront.

It is the largest gathering in the world of experts in midwifery.

They will present papers on infant feeding, leadership, research models and priorities, models of midwifery care, translating evidence in to policy and the impact of the Lancet series of midwifery.

Five staff from the MIRU will attend the event, including Professor Mary Renfrew, a health researcher and midwife who has been in the industry for over 30 years.

Prof Renfrew said: "This is unprecedented representation at the ICM Congress and strongly emphasises the impact Dundee is having in mother and infant health.

"We have made major contributions in the past few years including co-authoring the Lancet series on midwifery, which has become a major guiding text in shaping policy and practice across the world.

"We will be presenting in Toronto alongside, and for, the major institutions such as the World Health Organisation."
