Pete Wishart held his seat by 21 votes in a dramatic count in Perth and North Perthshire.

The SNP MP claimed 21,804 to see off the challenge of the Conservatices by a narrow margin.

Ian Duncan had pushed the Nationalists all the way to claim 21,783, up 9.5% from the party's performance in 2015.

Wishart has held the seat since its creation in 2005 with the leading pair shared 42.3% of the vote.

The Conservatives claimed Ochil and South Perthshire from the SNP as Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh lost her seat.

Luke Graham secured 22,469 as the Tories claimed the seat for the first time.

There was another close race in Stirling as the Conservatives pipped the SNP's Steven Paterson to the seat by 148 votes.
