Elderly people from across Aberdeen are taking part in the city's largest sports and activities festival.

The Golden Games will see more than 500 over 65 year olds participate in the free 10-day event.

Now in its seventh year, the annual event aims to encourage older generations to remain active.

Footgolf, walking rugby, abseiling and zumba are amongst the 87 activities lined up across the city.

The Active Aberdeen Partnership (AAP) is delivering the games as part of their mission to make the Aberdeen the most active city in Scotland.

Duncan Sinclair, chief executive of AAP, said: "This is the seventh year of the Golden Games but the first year the Active Aberdeen Partnership have delivered it.

"This year we are going to go from strength to strength with the most participants ever.

"We have got 500 people taking part, 87 different types of actives across 30 venues in the city."
