Thousands expected as army opens up its Leuchars base
Public can visit base for first time since RAF departed area in 2015.
Thousands of people are expected to attend an open day at Leuchars Station in Fife this weekend.
It will be the first time many visitors will have seen around the base since the army took over from the RAF almost two years ago.
Soldiers from the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards have been based in the region since relocating from Germany in 2015.
The open day designed to give visitors an insight into army activities before they are deployed to Cyprus later this year as part of a UN mission.
The RAF had been stationed at Leuchers for 95 years.
Leuchars Station community support officer Susan Budd said: "The station is thrilled to be able to put this event on for our families at Leuchars and the public.
"It is an ideal opportunity for the residents of Fife and further afield to come on to the station itself and experience and learn more about what we do here at Leuchars Station as well as enjoying all of the other entertainment provided."
