A mother and her six-year-old child are being treated in hospital after they were seriously injured in a crash on the A90.

Their Vauxhall Corsa collided with a Mercedes near Tealing, Angus, shortly before 5pm on Monday.

They were cut free from the car along with another child aged three and a six-month old toddler, who were not injured.

All four were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee along with the driver of the Mercedes. The extent of his injuries is unclear.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We received a call at around 5pm about a two-car crash on the A90.

"An adult and a child, aged six, were seriously injured."
