Urgent call for runners in Aberdeen's Race for Life
Organisers say that fewer people have registered than they expected.
Organisers are rallying Scots to take part in this year's Race for Life in Aberdeen.
With less than two weeks to go until the big day, organisers say fewer people have registered than they expected.
Last year, 37,612 people took part in Race for Life in Scotland and raised almost £2.5m.
Cancer Research UK is introducing a new Race for Life Family 5K to its events calendar.
It is being piloted for the first time in Scotland and Aberdeen has been chosen to host one of just ten of the new race events.
For the first time, men, women and children of all ages and abilities can race together to raise money for cancer research.
Frances Kippax-Geary, event manager for Race for Life Aberdeen, said: "We're urging anyone who has been thinking about taking part to join the fight and sign up today.
"Scots have always shown such an incredible commitment to the cause so we're thrilled to be trialling the new Family 5k event in Aberdeen.
"For the first time, this will offer men the chance to experience Race for Life as participants."
She added: "Our much-loved traditional 5k and 10k events will remain women-only - giving everyone the opportunity to support Cancer Research UK in the way they want to.
"We're sending out a rallying cry to people of all ages, abilities, shapes and sizes across Aberdeenshire to sign up right now and stand united in the fight against cancer."
