Hometown Hero: Read all about Alford's Emeli Sande
From Alford to the Olympic Games, the 30-year-old is a singing star.
Hometown Hero is a series celebrating some of the area's best known and widely-loved names.
One of Scottish music's success stories over the past decade, Emeli Sande's musical talent found a real home in Aberdeenshire.
Raised in the village of Alford, Sande realised she wished to become a performer after taking part in primary school shows.
Her debut album Our Version of Events went to number one along with single Read All About It featuring Professor Green.
Now a household name, the Scot received the honour of performing at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Sande has since gone on to perform to President Obama at the White House as well as write another album entitled Long Live The Angels.
Throughout difficult periods in her personal and professional life, the 30-year-old has retained the support of her hometown.
"I feel like it's a complete sanctuary when I am back up here," she said.
"I would like to say thank you to every one of my north east fans for your support through the years."
