A charity has revealed its design for a children's hospice that will provide care and support for more than 1500 young people and families in Aberdeen.

Charlie House provides support for children with life-limiting and extremely complex medical needs.

The care centre, near the city's Woodend Hospital, will have eight children's bedrooms, eight family rooms and specialist facilities including sensory rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and garden.

The charity hope to start fundraising for the £8.5m building next year once formal planning permission has been accepted.

Dr Sorcha Hume, general manger of the charity, said: "There are over 1500 children and young people across the north east with life-limiting conditions who can often wait a long time to get the support they need.

"We hope it will also be a community hub to provide other support groups in the area with place to meet."
