Hometown Hero: Annie Lennox, the diva with sweet dreams
Singer and activist is one of Aberdeen’s favourite daughters.
Hometown Hero is a series celebrating some of the area's best known and widely loved names.
Annie Lennox is Britain's most successful female musician but she has never forgotten her Aberdeen roots.
Having achieved stardom, she struck out on her own and has sold more than 80 million records across the world.
In addition to her musical achievements, Lennox is well known as an activist with ties to Greenpeace and Amnesty International.
An ambassador for Nelson Mandela's charity, she has helped to raise awareness of HIV/Aids as well as campaigning against poverty. Her tireless work led to an OBE in 2011.
Lennox was entered into Aberdeen's Hall of Heroes earlier this year.
