A teenage Commonwealth bronze medallist has been told she cannot compete in disabled sports.

Erraid Davies, 15, was informed earlier this year that she longer met the criteria to participate in para-swimming.

The Shetland athlete called for a review of the decision and met experts on Wednesday for more tests but the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) stuck to its original conclusion.

The decision is a result of changes to the review process rather than a change in Erraid's condition.

She was born with Perthes disease, which affects her hip bones and joints.

A spokeswoman said: "Erraid Davies undertook a second classification review at the Internationale Deutsche Meisterschaften 2016 Meet in Berlin, and has been deemed ineligible to compete in para-swimming.

"This follows an initial classification review at Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow back in April."

Erraid will not be allowed to appeal the IPC's decision a second time.
