A ten-year-old girl was approached by a man in a car in Aberdeen, police say.

The incident happened on Bedford Road at around 8.20am on Tuesday.

The man’s intentions are unclear but police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Police Scotland inspector Jim Hume said: “We are currently carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this conversation and I would urge anyone with information to contact us, whether it be the motorist himself or someone who was in the area at the time.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to reassure people that incidents of this nature are extremely rare in our communities, and this appears to have been an isolated incident.

"In saying this, additional patrols are being carried out within the area as a precaution."

Anyone with any information has been asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
