A motorcylist has been killed in a crash in the Highlands.

The man, in his 50s, was riding a Suzuki motorcycle on the A93 between Glenshee and Braemar when the accident happened.

Police officers are investigating the incident, with the road closed for several hours after it happened at 1.45pm.

Sergeant Stuart Lawrence said: "Our thoughts at this difficult time are with the man's family and friends.

"We have officers supporting them and would urge anyone who may have seen the motorbike around the time of the incident and who may have stopped to render assistance to contact us as a matter of urgency".
