A helicopter sparked an emergency response at a Shetland airport after its landing gear developed a fault.

The S92 was on approach to Scatsta with 21 passengers aboard when it reported the problem on Monday afternoon.

Firefighters and lifeboat crews were scrambled at 2.30pm but the helicopter landed safely and the emergency services stood down.

A spokesman for Aith RNLI, which attended the incident, said: "The helicopter was approaching to land at Scatsta airport in the north mainland, with 21 passengers on board, and had a landing gear fault.

"After a short time however, the helicopter managed to land safely, and the lifeboat and voluntary crew were stood down at 2.50pm."
