A teenage driver who died when his car veered off a road in the Highlands has been named.

Kyle Bruce, from Spean Bridge, died at the scene of the crash near the A82 in Lochaber.

The 17-year-old's blue Audi A3 left the road between Letterfinlay and Invergloy at 11.30am on Wednesday.

No other vehicles were involved and the teenager was the only occupant of the car.

Kyle's father Kevin said on Facebook: "Our beloved youngest son taken too early tragically today. Bad accident. Just to let all his friends know. Kyle Bruce R.I.P"

Police Scotland's sergeant Alan Henderson said: "Our thoughts are with the young man's family and friends at this sad time.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed this collision or who has information which could help us to establish the circumstances to contact us."
