The driver of a car has died after a collision with a lorry on the A9 in the Highlands.

A man died in the crash on the road at Lynwilg, Aviemore, shortly before 4pm on Wednesday.

Officers confirmed the 37-year-old is from Kingussie.

Emergency services attended the scene and shut a stretch of the road in both directions.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this time and we wish to thank motorists for their understanding during the subsequent police investigation."
