A woman has died after being pulled from the sea at Ullapool Harbour.

The emergency services were called to Shore Street at around 7am on Friday.

The woman was recovered from the water and flown to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where she later died.

Her death is being treated as unexplained and her next of kin have been made aware.

Inspector David Ogilvie said: "Our enquiries are at an early stage and I would urge anyone who has information which could help establish the circumstances to make contact with us.

"Our thoughts are with the woman's family and friends at this difficult time."
