Man caught with £50,000 of heroin at city bus station
Police swooped on the suspect at Inverness Bus Station on Thursday evening.
A man has been arrested after he was allegedly caught with more than £50,000 of heroin at a bus station.
Officers swooped on the suspect, 27, at Inverness Bus Station on Thursday evening.
Police Scotland confirmed the haul of Class A drugs has since been valued at £50,400.
The man is being held in custody and is expected to appear before Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday.
The latest recovery follows on from a week of enforcement across the Highlands, which has led to the recovery of £147,000 worth of drugs.
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Sutherland said: "We have made it very clear that drugs will not be tolerated in our communities and we have warned drug dealers that we are out to get them off our streets.
"That has not and will never change - we will always take action against anyone involved in the trade of illegal drugs.
"This latest recovery is yet more evidence of our commitment to tackling this illegal trade and sends another message to the drug dealers that they are not welcome."
Anyone with information or concerns relating to the use or supply of illegal drugs is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
