A person has been airlifted to hospital after being involved in a traffic collision on the A9, near Aviemore.

The incident happened around 2.40pm, with a camper van and transit van involved in the crash.

One person has been taken to Raigmore Hospital with serious leg and chest injuries.

A 13-mile diversion is still in place as the incident is ongoing.

Police, fire and ambulance were all called to the scene as well as a coastguard rescue helicopter.

A police spokesman said: "Both directions of the A9 are currently closed near the Aviemore junction after a collision between a camper van and a transit van.

"One person has been airlifted to hospital, but injuries are not thought to be life threatening."
