Man killed in lorry collision was council road worker
Keith Johnston, 52, suffered fatal injuries after being hit on Wednesday in Orkney.
A man who died after being hit by a lorry on an Orkney road has been named.
Keith Johnston, 52, suffered fatal injuries when he was struck by the lorry on the A967 at Twatt on the Mainland island shortly after 10am on Wednesday.
Mr Johnston was a maintenance worker for Orkney Islands Council and it is understood the vehicle involved in the collision was a council lorry.
Road policing sergeant Angus Murray said: "Our thoughts are with Mr Johnston's family at this sad time.
"Inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal as is standard procedure."
