A three-week-old baby girl died in hospital after taking unwell in the Highlands.
The death of a newborn baby girl in the Highlands has led to a police investigation.
An ambulance attended a house on Mackay Road in Inverness following an alert about the three-week-old child taking unwell.
The baby was taken to Raigmore Hospital in the city, where she died on Thursday afternoon.
The death is being treated by police as unexplained.
Detective inspector Brian Geddes said: "This is a tragic incident and we are carrying out a full investigation in order to establish the full circumstances.
"There will be a police presence in the area as officers carry out their enquiries."
