Seaman's solo sex act carried out at Stornoway Superdrug
Cruise ship waiter Jaykissan Aujayeb jailed before being deported to home country of Mauritius.
A drunk seaman has been jailed after carrying out a solo sex act at a Superdrug in Stornoway.
Cruise ship waiter Jaykissan Aujayeb from Mauritius will be deported to his home country after the incident on April 27.
The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to revealing his private parts and performing a solo sex act while his ship was in port.
A not guilty plea to a similar allegation in a neighbouring shop was accepted at Stornoway Sheriff Court.
Procurator fiscal Karen Smith told the court that female customers saw what he was doing and alerted shop staff.
Police officers later boarded the passenger liner and its captain identified the culprit from the shop's CCTV footage.
Aujayeb was detained and his vessel continued her voyage around Britain without him.
Lawyer Angus Macdonald said the crew were not allowed to drink alcohol on board but Aujayeb and two companions visited pubs when they went ashore in Stornoway and had a substantial amount to drink.
Aujayeb said he wished to apologise to the women for the upset he caused, the solicitor added.
Sheriff David Sutherland noted the accused was remanded in custody for three weeks, had no previous convictions and would be deported.
He imposed a £400 fine and granted Aujayeb's lawyer's request to allow Aujayeb to default on the fine, meaning he would receive an alternative sentence of 14 days' imprisonment. He is likely to be released in a week.
