Annie Lennox and Susan Boyle are to be inducted into the SSE Scottish Music Awards' Scottish Music Hall of Fame.

The pair will receive the honour at the prestigious awards' 20th anniversary celebrations at Glasgow's SEC next month.

Singing sensation Susan, who shot to fame after appearing on Britain's Got Talent in 2009, has sold 25 million albums, racked up two Grammy nominations, three Guinness World Records, performed for the Pope and the Queen, and has smashed music records that were held by The Beatles since the 1960s.

Susan, who will be opening the event, is thrilled with the award - which is sponsored by the Royal Highland Centre.

She said: "The Scots are one of the best audiences in the world, so being in my home country on the SEC stage will be wonderful.

"I'm also incredibly honoured and speechless that I will be inducted into the Scottish Music Hall of Fame."

Former Eurythmics frontwoman Annie, who has more than 80 million record sales to date and is a celebrated singer, songwriter, charity campaigner and activist, has also been added to the line-up.

The pair will join the already announced Mark Knopfler, Snow Patrol, Amy Macdonald, Tom Grennan, Kyle Falconer and The Snuts.

All funds raised on the night will be donated to Nordoff Robbins Scotland, which will allow the charity to provide music therapists and sessions to those who need it most.

The awards ceremony has been the main fundraising event for the charity since 1996.

DJ and visual artist Eclair Fifi, who has been nominated for the Electronic Music Award, said: "I'm so overwhelmed to be nominated.

"When you've been in the music industry for the best part of 20 years just grafting away, sometimes in the background, sometimes in public, any kind of recognition can be a bit humbling or alien to me but believe me, I'm so incredibly grateful.

"It is even more special when it's connected to such a worthwhile cause like Nordoff Robbins Scotland."

The SSE Scottish Music Awards will take place on Saturday, December 1. For tickets, go to nordoff-robbins.org.uk/sse-scottish-music-awards.
