Debut TRNSMT music festival begins on Glasgow Green
English rock band Radiohead will headline the opening night of the new festival.
Music fans are flocking to Glasgow for the opening night of the new TRNSMT music festival.
The three-day festival gets under way on Friday with acts including Rag'n'Bone Man, Belle and Sebastian and headline act Radiohead.
The event was created after T in The Park bosses announced the long running festival, which started in Glasgow, was to "take a break" this year.
Other headline acts over the weekend will be Kasabian on Saturday and Scottish band Biffy Clyro on Sunday.
London grime star Stormzy, indie favourites Catfish and the Bottlemen and The Kooks will also be entertaining the crowds over the weekend.
Scottish acts including Dundee band The View, Castlemilk singer Gerry Cinnamon and rock newcomers Tijuana Bible will also be playing in front of an expectant home crowd.
English rock-band and 1990s icons Radiohead are expected to be the biggest draw of the opening night.
Thom Yorke's band, who have sold millions of albums worldwide, are fresh from headlining Glastonbury a fortnight ago with a performance that received widespread praise from critics and music fans.
Security is expected to be tight at the non-camping event, which begins at 2pm on Friday, with extra bag checks to be expected.
Armed police will also be visible following recent terror attacks in Manchester and London.
Flares, smoke devices and other pyrotechnics are among the items banned from the event and police say they will have a zero-tolerance approach to trouble.
Festival director Geoff Ellis said ticket sales had "totally exceeded expectations" in the first year of the event, with Saturday day tickets sold out in advance of the opening night.
Limited tickets are still available for Friday and Sunday.
