The headliners for new festival TRNSMT in Glasgow this summer have been announced.

Radiohead, Kasabian and Biffy Clyro will top the bill on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Created by DF Concerts, the organisers behind T in the Park, the event will take place on Glasgow Green over three days from July 7.

Also performing at the event are Scottish indie pop legends Belle and Sebastian, stadium rock compatriots Twin Atlantic and indie rock band Catfish and the Bottleman.

Geoff Ellis said fans "can expect the freshest, newist music festival in Scotland".

He added: "They can expect fantastic performance so from global artists and local artists as well.

"It's going to be a fantastic music festival for Glasgow, Glasgow's pretty much the home of music now in the UK.

"There's more concerts in Glasgow per capita than even Manchester or London. So it's very fitting that we're here in Glasgow, so excited to be launching what is a new festival.

"It's two stages, the main stage and the King Tut's stage which will showcase emerging talent. And I think that's really important to involve King Tut's in it because King Tut's is where many bands have played their first concert."

The festival was announced earlier this month in a series of cryptic social media postings.

It has been described as a replacement for T in the Park, which DF Concerts announced will not take place this year amid ongoing concerns about its current location at Strathallan Castle.

TRNSMT will take place in the centre of Glasgow and will not have overnight camping.

Glasgow Green has been used a number of times in recent years for music events, including a previous Radiohead performance in 2008.

Further line-up announcements are expected for TRNSMT in the lead up to the event.

There will be a ticket presale at 9am on Wednesday for those who have signed up to the mailing list at www.trnsmtfest.com.

Early bird tickets will go on general sale from 9am on Friday from TRNSMT's website and through Ticketmaster.

Standard early bird ticket prices, excluding booking fee, will be £59.50 for one day, £105 for two and £149 for all three. VIP packages will be £99, £175 and £225.

The official travel partner of TRNSMT will be Big Green Coach.

T in the Park had taken place every summer for the last 23 years and moved from its original location at Balado two years ago.

In November, DF concerts said constraints because of an osprey nesting site on the festival site made it "simply not workable".

Festival-goers complained about the layout of the site at Strathallan in the first year and special measures were put in place to protect the ospreys.

The number of tickets was cut from 85,000 to 70,000 in 2016 as organisers tried to deal with the restrictions of the new site.
