Lindsay Lohan is being urged to honour her Twitter pledge to switch on Kettering's Christmas lights, after implying nobody had heard of the Northamptonshire town .

The Hollywood star sent a series tweets on the night of the EU referendum in which she appeared to support the Remain campaign.

She criticised parts of the UK that voted to remain leave - writing "Sorry #Kettering but where are you?"

Kettering MP Philip Hollobone then invited Lohan to switch on the town's Christmas lights to "redeem her reputation" and "raise money for good causes".

She appeared to accept over social media, writing:

However, the MP has since revealed that Kettering Borough Council - who are organising the switch-on next month - are yet to hear from her.
