Social media stars could be capturing their every move with a pair of sunglasses - or at least that's what social media firm Snapchat hope.

It has announced the launch of a line of wearable cameras built into glasses as it makes a move into hardware.

The firm has also changed its name to Snap as part of a major shake-up.

The glasses, named Spectacles, will reportedly go on sale for $130 (around £100) later this year.

They will be able record snatches of video lasting up to 10 seconds, which can be transferred onto computer via bluetooth or wifi.

Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel told the Wall Street Journal that that glasses had allowed him to "see my own memory, through my own eyes" as he looked back on footage of a day out.

However, critics have compared the spectacles to the much-derided Google Glasses, which failed to take off with consumers and were widely criticised for infringing on others' privacy.
