Building worker dies on Blade Runner sequel set in Hungary
A construction worker was crushed when a platform collapsed while the set was being dismantled.
A building worker has died on the set of the upcoming Blade Runner sequel.
Origo Studios confirmed that the Hungarian national was killed as part of a set on a sound stage was dismantled in Budapest on Thursday.
The company said in a statement: "The worker was underneath a platform, upon which the set was constructed, when it suddenly collapsed. The cause of the accident is not yet known."
The new Blade Runner film was not being shot at Origo Studios at the time of the incident, and a spokeswoman for the film studio said she was unable to confirm any other details about the worker who died.
The new Blade Runner film features Harrison Ford reprising his role as Rick Deckard, and will also star Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, and Robin Wright.
The follow-up to Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic is being directed by Denis Villeneuve, and is set several decades after the original.
Scott is an executive producer on the film, which is set for release in October 2017.
