Game of Thrones fans have been warned that winter was coming for several years now - but now it's here, they may not like what that means for the show.

The HBO show usually airs in March or April, but creators have said that fans will have to wait for longer because they can't film the show during the summer.

Speaking on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, David Benioff and Dan Weiss said that there will be a delay to the show due to the lack of suitably wintry weather.

Benioff said: "We don't have an air date, but we are starting a bit later because at the end of this season winter is here.

"We pushed everything down the line to get some grim, grey weather, even in the sunnier places that we shoot."

The show's main filming locations are Spain, Croatia, Northern Ireland, and Morocco - most of which are sunnier climates.
