The cast of Trainspotting 2 were given a warm welcome when they were spotted at Rannoch railway station in Highland Perthshire.

On the way to a filming session in Corrour, an iconic location in the original movie, director Danny Boyle and stars including Ewan McGregor and Ewen Bremner got a surprise VIP service.

Alerted by an "anonymous tip off", and armed with plates of scones, cakes and tablets, Rannoch Station Tearoom owner Jenny Anderson and colleague Ally Robertson hopped on board to give the 40 cast and crew a treat.

McGregor even gave Mrs Robertson a "peck on the cheek" to thank them for their generosity.

Bill Anderson, who runs the tearoom with his wife Jenny, said: "It is a very remote area and we enjoy watching the trains go through.

"Someone gave us a tip off they were on the train, I won't say who, and Jenny and Ally said: Why don't we jump on and give them some free tea and scones?

"It was just a bit of fun and everyone seemed to enjoy it."

The tearoom posted the celebrity news on their Facebook page, saying: "Jenny got a peck on the cheek from Ewan and they both got a round of applause before leaping off to continue with Tearoom duties."

Trainspotting 2 is expected to be released next year.
