JK Rowling has responded to a woman who wrote a letter explaining how the Harry Potter series provided comfort for her young daughter who was undergoing treatment for cancer.

The woman's daughter has now passed away, and the Harry Potter author took to social media to respond, saying: "I only wish words could bring her back to you."

The letter, written by Chrissy Hart, was read out at a star-studded Letters Live event by actress Ellie Bamber.
