Media mogul Rupert Murdoch has said he feels like the "luckiest and happiest man in the world" after marrying former supermodel Jerry Hall.

The 84-year-old Australian, whose News UK company publishes The Times and The Sun, wed the 59-year-old Texan in central London today.

The couple exchanged vows at Spencer House, a venue described on its website as "one of the most sumptuous private residences ever built" in the capital.

Murdoch later announced he was suspending his social media output - which has seen him regularly tweet on the Republican presidential race and the UK in-out referendum - to enjoy his marital bliss.

While the nuptials are Mr Murdoch's fourth, the marriage is Ms Hall's second, though she is best known for her long-term relationship with Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger.

The couple had announced their engagement in The Times in January, saying: "Mr Rupert Murdoch, father of Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace and Chloe Murdoch, and Miss Jerry Hall, mother of Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel Jagger, are delighted to announce their engagement."
