The Brit Awards take place tonight, in a celebration of the best of British talent in the music industry - along with awards for international artists and bands.

Adele will be hoping all goes smoothly as she takes to the stage to perform, after she said she "cried pretty much all day" following a sound glitch which affected her Grammys performance this month.

And on the subject of avoiding unexpected glitches, the ceremony's hosts Ant and Dec have said "capes have been banned, absolutely banned" this year, referring to Madonna's shocking fall on stage at last year's awards.

Who is performing?

Along with Adele, Justin Bieber and Rihanna are expected to perform.

Also taking to the stage will be Coldplay, who could make Brit Awards history if they take home the British group gong - the band has won the the award in 2012, 2003 and 2001 and will break the record for most wins if they are successful again this year.
