A rescue operation was launched at a popular beauty spot after two women experienced difficulty in the water in Stirlingshire.

One of the women were taken to hospital after emergency services attended the scene at Bracklinn Falls in Callander, central Scotland, on Thursday.

Police Scotland confirmed that there was a multi-agency water rescue mission in the area, which is popular with walkers.

The coastguard helicopter and air ambulance helicopter landed at nearby Callander Golf Course.

Crew members then made their way on foot to the falls.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed they were in attendance.

He said: "We are currently in attendance at the Bracklinn Falls in Callander, Stirling, after being alerted to an ongoing incident at 11.30am.

"Operations Control have mobilised a number of resources to the scene."

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 11.24am to attend an incident at Bracklinn Falls, Callander.

"We dispatched our special operations team, a helimed, a paramedic response unit and two ambulance crews to the scene and transported a patient to Forth Valley Hospital."

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police in the Forth Valley region, along with other emergency services, were called to the Bracklinn Falls area of Callander around 11.30am following reports of two women experiencing difficulty in the water."
