Demolition work at Longannet continued this week as another controlled explosion was carried out.

The boiler annex east, close to the station's iconic chimney, was blown down on Thursday.

ScottishPower's demolition contractor, Brown & Mason, have so far removed 28,000 tonnes of material from the former power station site in Fife with 98.5% of the material recovered or recycled.

Longannet, Scotland's last coal-fired power station, was closed in 2016.

More than 1000 jobs are set to be created after the site was chosen as the preferred location for a major new train factory.

Spanish firm Talgo plans to transform the 70,000 sq m plant by 2021.

It was chosen due to good sea, rail and road connections, as well as the availability of skilled workers, the firm said.
