Girl, 12, charged after 'bringing knife into school'

A 12-year-old girl has been charged after allegedly bringing a knife into a school.
Police were called to a school in Musselburgh, East Lothian, after the pupil is said to have showed the knife to a child in the playground.
A member of staff was alerted before officers were called shortly after 9am on Thursday.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A 12-year-old girl has been charged in connection with the possession of an offensive weapon after officers were called to a school in Musselburgh shortly after 9am on Thursday.
"At no point was another pupil or a member of staff threatened or harmed.
"A report will be submitted to the children's reporter and officers continue to liaise with the school and local authority surrounding this."
