A five-year-old girl is pleading with the public to help reunite her with her lost teddy bear.

Lilly-Rose Fraser was enjoying a day out with her dad in Edinburgh when she lost her beloved teddy bear, Ratty.

The family tried to retrace their steps along Broughton Street the next day, but found no trace of the "well-travelled teddy".

In a last-ditch effort, Lilly decided to design a poster of her grey Jellycat teddy, which she put up at a bus stop.

The poster was posted on Lothian Buses' Twitter page, and has been shared far and wide since.

Helpful locals have called the family to say they have found Ratty, but so far it has always been the wrong teddy.

Mum, Abigail Martin-Fraser, says Lilly has taken comfort from everyone's support but is still devastated about losing Ratty.

The mum-of-two said: "The way the teddy went missing is a total mystery.

"She was out with her dad when she lost it.

"Kevin went for a haircut and they were about Broughton Street but when she got home she did not know how she had lost it."

She added: "We've had so many people call in to say they have found it but it's actually been the wrong teddy they have found.

"She gets comfort from everyone's support, especially with the posters, but most of the time she is tearful.

"She keeps asking 'will Ratty come home?'"

Lilly has had Ratty since she was born, and has always been inseparable from him.

"She does have plenty of teddies but this has been her main teddy bear since she was born," Abigail added.

"She goes everywhere with it. It's the most loved and well-travelled teddy.

"It looks like a mouse but we've called him Ratty."

People on social media are eagerly awaiting news on whether the two will be reunited.
