Schoolchildren in Edinburgh have produced videos marking the city's change to a 20mph speed limit as part of a competition organised by the council.

The winning school was announced as St Catherine's RC Primary, who produced a video using animated toys.

Runner-up prizes went to Blackhall Primary School and Holy Cross RC Primary.

The pupils were set the challenge of producing snappy videos themed around 20mph for Road Safety week last year.

More than 100 pupils took part in the contest, with the winning school receiving £500.

Transport convener Lesley Macinnes said: "It's fantastic to see such thoughtful and creative entries from these young film makers - it was certainly a challenge choosing a winner!

"The introduction of 20mph zones across the city aims to enhance our streets for people of all ages and backgrounds, creating a safer and more relaxed atmosphere, and it's clear that entrants to the competition had a real understanding of these aims."
