Buses replace trains as work begins to electrify train line
The Edinburgh to Glasgow via Shotts line is being worked on over the Easter break.
Passengers are being reminded to plan their journeys in advance this weekend as work begins to electrify the Edinburgh to Glasgow via Shotts line.
Buses are to replace all trains on this line from March 29 until April 8.
This is to allow of work on the latest stage of the Shotts line electrification project.
Platforms at Livingston South station will also be made longer and wider to allow for the use of modern electric trains.
As well as work to the platforms, the £3.5m redevelopment will see the construction of lifts on both sides of the station to deliver step-free access, installation of new staircases and the re-alignment of existing ramps.
Improvements to lighting and CCTV, and enhancement to customer information systems, ticket machines, validators and waiting shelters will also be delivered at the West Lothian station.
